How do you price a job — is the quote fixed?

For most straightforward work we can give you a fixed price after a site visit or a few photos. Larger or hidden work, like chasing walls or tracing a fault, is priced on a day rate with the scope agreed up front. Either way, you'll know the figure before we start.

Will the power be off during the work, and for how long?

Some circuits will need isolating, and we'll tell you which and roughly when. Most jobs keep the kitchen and main lighting on throughout. For a full consumer unit swap, expect a few hours without power — we'll arrange a time that suits your household.

How soon can you come out, and do you handle emergencies?

Booked work is usually scheduled within one to two weeks, depending on the season. For urgent faults — a tripping circuit, burning smell or dead socket — ring us and we'll do our best to get someone out the same day or the next.

As more clients asked for systems they could control from a phone, we went deeper into the networked side of things. That's now a large part of what we do, but the basics still matter most. Every job begins with a conversation rather than a sales pitch. We ask what you actually want the building to do — dim the lights at ten, lock the side door remotely, see what the energy bill is doing week by week — and work back from there. Sometimes the answer is a simple timer or a better-placed switch, and we'll say so. You're paying for a result, not for kit you'll never touch.

On site, you'll deal with the same electrician from first visit to final certificate. We keep the working area tidy, protect floors and furniture, and explain what we're doing as we go rather than leaving you guessing. If something changes mid-job — a hidden cable, a wall that won't play ball — we'll talk it through with you before we carry on, not after.

Once the installation is live, we walk you through the controls, hand over the paperwork and leave you with a number to call if anything misbehaves. Testing and certification come as standard, and we're glad to return for small tweaks in those first few weeks while you get used to the system. That aftercare is part of the job, not an extra.
